Boltless Shelving
Boltless shelving, often called rivet shelving, provides sturdy storage without a complicated nut-and-bolt assembly. Interlocking posts and beams are designed for quick setup with a rubber mallet, making these systems useful in warehouses, stockrooms, garages, workshops, and commercial backrooms.
Choose single-rivet shelving when conserving vertical space is the priority, or heavy-duty double-rivet shelving for greater support. Compatible particleboard, steel, and wire decking options are available on selected models, along with starter units, add-on sections, extra levels, and replacement parts for building or expanding a storage run.

Flexible Boltless Shelving for Fast Setup
Boltless shelving uses riveted beams that lock into keyhole-style posts, so the frame can be assembled without fastening every shelf level with nuts and bolts. This straightforward design makes rivet shelving a popular option for boxed inventory, tools, supplies, records, and other hand-loaded materials.
Hallowell Rivetwell systems are built around starter and add-on sections, adjustable shelf levels, and a selection of beam and decking components. That modular approach lets a single unit grow into a connected row as storage needs change.
Single Rivet or Heavy-Duty Double Rivet?
Single-rivet shelving uses lower-profile beams to create more usable vertical space. It is well suited to smaller cartons and lighter general storage when closely spaced shelf levels are useful. Heavy-duty double-rivet shelving uses deeper beam profiles and additional support for larger or heavier loads. The best choice depends on the unit dimensions, decking, number of shelf levels, and rated capacity of the exact model.
Decking and Expansion Options
Decking creates the surface that supports stored items. Depending on the shelving model, options can include particleboard, steel decking, or open-wire decking. Steel is durable and easy to maintain, wire improves visibility and airflow, and particleboard provides a continuous surface for general dry storage. Center supports may be required on wider shelves or at higher capacities.
- Starter units for freestanding shelving bays
- Add-on units for extending compatible shelving rows
- Single-rivet levels for efficient vertical spacing
- Double-rivet beams for heavier-duty storage
- Decking, supports, and replacement components for selected systems
Before You Buy
Confirm the shelf width, depth, height, decking type, and rated capacity for the exact configuration. Place heavier items on lower levels, distribute loads evenly, and follow the manufacturer's assembly and anchoring guidance. If you are adding to an existing system, verify the brand, series, post style, and connection spacing before ordering parts.
